How to play 84-0
Tap Drop the puck. The board lands on a franchise and one precise season, say Canadiens 2005-06. The sheet that slides up is that season’s real roster, in alphabetical order, with positions only. No statistics, no hints: you have to know who was good that year.
Pick one name into an open slot. Six slots: left wing, centre, right wing, two defencemen, one goalie. Positions are locked, a centre cannot play the wing.
The rules
Any franchise, any season since 1967-68, no era rule: the spins are fully random, so six modern seasons or six from the disco years are both possible. Every player is rated on that exact season, not on his career. Free players get three lineups a day and play the spins they get; Pro members get unlimited lineups plus one team skip and one season skip per game.

Your lineup plays all 84 games of the new 2026-27 schedule against the 32 real 2025-26 clubs, then a best-of-seven against the Cup champions and the Presidents’ Trophy winners. The goalie carries the most weight and a weak link drags the whole team down, so a roster with no real starter is where a Pro skip earns its keep.
Strategy notes
Dynasty seasons are obvious gifts; the edge comes from the quiet ones, a 1990s Whalers roster or a 2000s Panthers list, where one name was genuinely elite that year. Pro players: save a skip for the goalie slot. And share the seed: your friend gets the same spins, best record wins.

Trophies add a small bonus. The six ratings are weighted (the goalie counts most), a weak link drags the whole team down, and the season is simulated game by game against the 32 real 2025-26 teams.
- Is 84-0 actually possible?
- Yes, but it takes a near-perfect lineup and some luck: roughly one elite lineup in fifty runs the table. Most knowledgeable fans finish between 65 and 78 wins. A perfect season is worth sharing.
- Can I challenge a friend?
