What is Sportsdle?
Sportsdle is a free website of daily sports guessing games in the spirit of Wordle. Each of its 8 sports — NHL hockey, NFL football, NBA basketball, college football, MLB baseball, Premier League soccer, UFC and Formula 1 — has a Classic puzzle with one mystery athlete per day, the same for every player. Around them sit 30 game modes in all, from immaculate grids and career paths to the 84-0, 17-0 and 82-0 perfect-season challenges.
How do you play the daily Classic puzzle?
Type an athlete’s name to make a guess. Each guess is compared with the mystery player on attributes such as team, position, age, nationality and jersey number, depending on the sport: a green tile is a match, and arrows show whether a number is higher or lower. The board tracks 10 guesses, but a miss never ends the game: keep guessing until you find the athlete. A bonus clue unlocks after 5 guesses and the athlete’s photo after 8 (a hometown clue in college football, which shows no photos).
When does a new puzzle come out?
A new mystery athlete is drawn for every sport just after midnight Eastern Time (ET), and everyone plays the same answer that day, so results can be compared with friends. Yesterday’s puzzle stays free in the archive, and Sportsdle Pro opens every past day.
Is Sportsdle free?
Yes. Every daily puzzle is free to play in a web browser on desktop or mobile, with no download or account needed, and ads pay for the site. Sportsdle Pro is an optional subscription that removes ads and adds unlimited practice modes and the full puzzle archive. Free iPhone and Android apps carry the daily games too, and a free account keeps streaks in sync across devices.

Where does the player data come from?
Clues are built from public league data: the NHL’s official stats API for hockey, ESPN for football and basketball, CollegeFootballData.com for college football, and the Jolpica-Ergast database for Formula 1. Player data for every sport except soccer is refreshed each Sunday night, before the next draw, and each day’s answer is locked in when it is drawn.
