What people use it for
Assigning teams is the common case — pool drafts, franchise-mode saves, playoff bracket challenges, or deciding which club each person in a group has to back for a season.
It is also the fair way to settle a "pick a team and defend it" argument, because nobody can claim the draw was steered.
Filtering by division
The division filter narrows the pool to eight teams before the draw. That is useful when the exercise already has a constraint — a divisional pool, a rivalry bracket, or a franchise-mode restart inside one conference.
Leave it on "All" and every one of the 32 clubs has identical odds.

How many NHL teams does the generator include?
All 32 current franchises, across the Atlantic, Metropolitan, Central and Pacific divisions.
Can I generate a team from one division only?
Yes. Choose a division from the dropdown before you generate and the draw is limited to those eight clubs.
Is the draw genuinely random?
Yes, and unweighted — market size and recent success make no difference. The only thing the generator avoids is returning the same team twice in a row, so a repeat press always visibly changes something.
Do you have a random player generator too?
Yes — there is a random NHL player generator for individual players, plus a spinning wheel version if you want the draw to be more of an event.
