How to solve it without the answer
The fastest way through a player-guessing puzzle is to spend your first guess badly on purpose. Pick someone you are confident is wrong but who sits in the middle of the distribution — mid-career, mid-table team, common nationality. The feedback from a deliberate miss narrows far more than a lucky near-hit.
From there, treat each attribute as a filter rather than a clue. Once nationality and position are fixed, the pool is usually small enough that the team clue finishes it. Guessing a plausible name early tends to waste a turn, because a near-miss tells you almost nothing you did not already suspect.
